Stanly County Jail Roster Overview
The official current-custody roster is the Stanly County Sheriff's Office Inmates page. It is part of the sheriff's OCV/myOCV web and mobile platform, and the researched public feed returned 127 entries when inspected on June 23, 2026. No login, payment, or registration requirement was seen. The roster is aimed at people currently in the Stanly County Ralph McSwain Detention Center, not sentenced state prisoners or federal detainees.
The roster is only one access channel. If a person is missing from the list, the next steps are to call the jail or booking desk, check for a recent release or transfer, search the NC DAC locator for state custody, use BOP or ICE for federal or immigration custody, or make a North Carolina public-records request to the sheriff's office. The sheriff website also advertises the free Stanly County Sheriff's Office NC app, which is a supplemental route to sheriff resources in the same OCV ecosystem.
Search Stanly County Inmate Records
Start with a name. Stanly list titles use last-name-first format, so last name searches are the cleanest first pass. Partial-name behavior and wildcard rules were not published. If a common surname returns many matches, open the profile and compare the inmate ID, descriptors, booking date, charge description, and bond amount before relying on the result.
- Open the official sheriff roster at stanlysheriff.us/inmateList.
- Type the person's last name first, then try full name, first name, or known spelling variants.
- Use the available sort controls if the list is long.
- Open the profile link and compare the visible identity, booking, charge, and bond fields.
- If the person is not listed, call the jail or search NC DAC, BOP, ICE, or VINELink as the custody facts require.
The official roster screenshot from the Stanly sheriff inmate-list page shows the public interface used for the first current-custody search.
The list interface matters because it is the county's direct public path for current Ralph McSwain Detention Center inmate records.
Stanly County Roster Search Fields
The sheriff roster uses a simple framework search rather than a complex form. The research captured the public search label, sort options, profile links, and VINE-related identifiers in the underlying official feed. No official refresh-rate statement was located, so a missing record should be checked by phone if timing is important.
| Field label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Search / Type to Search | Text | Optional or unspecified | Use name text; list titles are last name first. |
| Sort | Dropdown/control | Optional | Name A-Z, Name Z-A, Date Oldest, and Date Newest labels exist in the framework. |
| Inmate profile link | Result link | n/a | Profile URLs use an internal OCV item ID. |
| Submit A Tip | Related action | Optional | The roster configuration includes a tip link setting. |
| VINE identifiers | Custody data | n/a | Records carry NCSWVINE and NCSTANLYSO values. |
View Stanly County Inmate Profiles
A Stanly County inmate profile can be more useful than the list row because charge details are visible on the profile page. The inspected sample showed a local inmate ID, descriptors, booked date, VINE/site identifiers, custody status, charge code, charge description, and bond amount. It did not show housing, court date, arresting agency, magistrate, warrant number, release date, or a live mugshot in that sample.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Last-name-first list title and full profile name. |
| Inmate ID | Numeric local identifier linked to the roster profile. |
| Physical descriptors | Height, weight, gender, race, age, eye color, and hair color where available. |
| Booked date | Date and time of the jail booking in Eastern time. |
| Custody identifiers | Site and agency values connected to NC SAVAN/VINE. |
| Charges | Charge code, charge description, and bond amount; charge date label may not be populated. |
| Photo field | Image placeholders were present in inspected samples, but no live booking photo was shown. |
The official sample-profile capture from a public Stanly inmate profile shows how booking fields and charge blocks appear in the roster system.
Profile fields should be compared carefully because a booking charge can change once the court case is filed or reviewed by the prosecutor.
County State Federal Inmate Lookup
The most common search mistake is using the right name in the wrong system. A person booked at Ralph McSwain belongs in the sheriff roster while held locally. A person sentenced to prison belongs in the NC DAC Offender Public Information Search. Federal sentenced inmates use BOP, and immigration detainees use ICE. VINELink is for custody notification rather than full record retrieval.
| Custody type | Where to look | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Current county jail custody | Stanly sheriff roster | Local booking, charges, bond, and custody status. |
| Sentenced state custody | NC DAC locator | State prison, probation, parole, and sentence history. |
| Federal sentenced custody | BOP Inmate Locator | Federal register number or name-based search. |
| Immigration custody | ICE detainee locator | A-number/country or biographic search. |
| Custody alerts | VINELink / NC SAVAN | Notification for custody-status changes. |
Stanly County Jail Facilities
Only one county jail was documented for Stanly County. Albemarle Correctional Institution is included here because it is a state prison inside the county and often appears in inmate-location questions, but it is not a county jail and does not use the sheriff roster for ordinary state-prison lookup.

Booking Records in Stanly County
Stanly's official pages do not publish a full booking manual, but they identify the booking and releasing areas, medical station, and phone access after initial booking. Arrested people are processed at the Ralph McSwain Detention Center. State law authorizes fingerprints and photographs after arrest or commitment in many felony and misdemeanor situations, and the magistrate process collects identity information for the court system.
After the initial booking phase, the official communication page says each inmate gets the opportunity to make a free telephone call. The receiving party may accept or deny it. Inmates cannot receive incoming calls, and detention staff cannot pass notes or deliver messages. Bond details may appear on a roster profile, but current bond stipulations should be confirmed with the booking desk before money is posted.
Stanly County Visitation Rules
All regular Stanly County Detention Center visits are online non-contact video visits through NCIC. The sheriff page says online visitation is available from any high-speed internet connection with webcam, microphone, and speakers, and that inmates may have unlimited online visits if time slots are available. Visits are a privilege and can be restricted for discipline or safety reasons.
| Visit type | Schedule / access | Rules |
|---|---|---|
| Remote online video | Scheduled through NCIC; exact daily slots not published | Non-contact, non-refundable cost, internet device required. |
| Regular on-site contact | Not offered as regular visitation in the official page | The sheriff page says all inmate visits are non-contact video visits. |
| Professional or special visits | Call 704-986-3734 Monday-Friday 8-5 excluding holidays | Case-by-case and requested at least one week ahead. |
Contact Stanly County Inmates
General-population inmates use outgoing collect or debit calls through NCIC. Calls are limited to 15 minutes, three-way calling is prohibited, and phone access may be restricted during meals, safety needs, disciplinary segregation, or closed custody. Phones are generally on from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Inmate messages and scanned documents also use NCIC, with official page prices of $0.25 per letter message and $0.35 per picture or document.
Beginning January 20, 2026, regular inmate mail must go to the Longview, Texas scanning address with the inmate name, SO number, Stanly County Detention Center, PO Box 591, Longview, Texas 75606. The sheriff page warns that scanned mail is destroyed after electronic delivery. Legal and medical mail do not go to the scanning PO Box and must follow facility rules.
Stanly County Inmate Funds
Stanly County lists a 24-hour kiosk in the magistrate's office lobby for cash, credit, or debit deposits, with a $3.00 service fee per deposit. The official example says a $10 deposit leaves $7 in the inmate account after the fee. Internet deposits and commissary ordering use Jail Pack Store or the named commissary vendor. Orders process Tuesday evenings and deliver Thursday evenings, according to the sheriff page.
